THERMAC: Thermodynamics and speciation of actinides at elevated temperatures

Temperature is one of the key parameters that will vary during the different phases of the management of the waste. One of the concerns of the authorities refers to the lack of enthalpy data, which implies a lack on the assessment on the effect of temperature variations on the behaviour of radionuclides.

The objectives undertaken by Amphos 21 in this project are:

  • Use estimation algorithms to cover thermodynamic data gaps for radionuclide behavior at temperatures higher than 25ºC (up to 90ºC)
  • Verification of the most suitable approaches by comparison with experimental data generated within the project
