The main objective of the project consisted of updating and applying the conceptual and numerical model of acid rock drainage (DAR) in the dumps of Rosario and Ujina and in the tailings dam. The models considered hydrological, hydrogeological and geochemical processes. The impact of heap leaching PADs on the quality of groundwater in the Michincha basin was also considered as a consequence of the DAR processes in these PADs and the potential transport and interaction of pollutants with the materials of the basin.
